Using technology can be complicated at times. In everyday life mistakes are bound to happen along the way. However, you can avoid creating those embarrassing hiccups by following my tips below.

1. Don’t let autofill reveal your search history
If you share a device with other people in your family, the last thing you want is to see what you’re looking for on the Internet. Maybe you’re trying to buy them a nice gift for their birthday, or maybe you want to keep your search to yourself. This can be very difficult if your computer’s browser uses autofill to help you find it quickly, so you’ll want to make sure you know how to delete those embarrassing autofill entries.

2. Avoid pocket dialing
It’s always embarrassing when you leave your phone in your pocket and then accidentally dial someone. It’s one thing if it’s a friend or family member, but if you accidentally call your boss while you’re out at a party, it can be pretty embarrassing. There are multiple ways you can prevent this from happening, whether you have an iPhone or Android, by locking your phone and adjusting certain settings in Audio Messages.
Here’s how to do it if you have an iPhone:
- go there “Settings”
- faucet “Performance and Brightness”
- in “Auto-Lock” section, set it to 30 seconds (this is the shortest time you can set this to).
Here’s how to do it if you have Android:
- go there “Settings”
- go there “Security”
- Next click on the gear icon “Screen Lock”

3. Lock your photos
If you’ve ever handed your phone to someone, it can be downright embarrassing when they start scrolling through your photos and you’ve got some in there that you didn’t intend to share. You can lock your photos on your smartphone so that no one else can access them.
Here’s how to do it on iPhone:
- Open your Photo app
- tap on The photo you want to hide
- choose 3 horizontal dots within a circle on the upper right
- Click hide And then hide photo to be sure
- To search for a photo, tap albums at the bottom of your screen
- Scroll all the way down and tap hidden. You’ll need Face ID or your iPhone’s passcode to view albums
Here’s how to do it on Android:
- open up Google Photos app
- go there library
- choose utilities
- faucet Locked folder
- faucet Set a locked folder
- Follow the on-screen instructions to unlock your device. If your folder is empty, you will get “There’s nothing here yet”
- Select photos and videos You want it in a locked folder.
- At the top right, tap 3 vertical dots
- choose Move to a locked folder
- faucet move on

4. Turn off Live Photos
While the Live Photo feature on the iPhone is great, remember that it’s a 3-second mini movie, so make sure there’s no video or audio within those 3 seconds that could be embarrassing before sending a photo to someone. The person on the receiving end can still capture that photo and watch the video and audio. Here’s how to turn off Live Photo if you’re an iPhone user.
- Open your Camera app
- in the upper right corner, Tap the dotted circle
- You will see that Slash Once it stops and your phone will say stay closed at the top of the screen. Tap the circle again to turn it back on

5. Don’t send an email to the wrong person
You never want to be the person who sends an email to the wrong person or with an awkward typo in it, especially if it’s an important email with private and secure information.
Here are my tips Always double check who you put in the “to” field. Also, use a website or browser extension like Grammarly to help you check for any spelling or grammar mistakes before you send that important message. Grammar will also help you write clearly and concisely and improve tone and word choice.

6. Don’t accidentally post in a group chat

Sometimes we mean that the text goes to only one person, and without paying enough attention, we send the text to the whole group message. You can avoid this by using messaging apps like WhatsApp, Telegram or Signal.

If you don’t want to use these apps, if you have iOS 16, there is a way for you iPhone users to edit or unsend messages within iMessage. however, The user you are sending the message to must also have their iPhone updated to iOS 16Otherwise, the feature will not work.
- If this is the case, you can undo After sending a recently sent message, press and hold the message you sent for two minutes Undo send.
- you can Make a change Tap and hold a recently sent message up to five times within 15 minutes of sending it Edit.
There are currently no features on Android phones that let you send or edit messages, so if you’re an Android user, you might want to stick with the apps mentioned above.

7. Turn off your ringer
Remembering to turn off your ringer is very important, especially if you are in class, in a meeting, or at another important event. The last thing you want is to be that person that everyone judges for not silencing their phone. Try setting a reminder for yourself on your phone to turn off your ringer If you know you have a major event.
Simply use the physical switch on the top left of your iPhone to put your iPhone on silent or vibrate mode.
- Press down the slider on the back of the phone to put your phone in silent or vibrate mode.
Or you can use “Don’t bother” Here’s how to feature:
- Swipe down from the top right of your iPhone’s screen to access Control Center
- faucet The sign of the crescent moon to enable don’t bother Mod
- You can customize the “Do Not Disturb” settings by going to Settings > Do Not Disturb. Here you can set specific times, allow calls from specific contacts and more.
- When you are ready Shut it down don’t bother mode, just swipe down from the top right of the screen and tap The sign of the crescent moon to disable it
To turn off the ringer on an Android phone, you can follow these steps:
- press Volume down button next to your phone until the volume is lowered
- Swipe down from the top of your screen to open the notification shade
- tap on Bell icon Or “Don’t bother” Icon for turning on “Do Not Disturb” mode. This will silence all incoming calls and notifications, but you can still receive and view them later.
- You can also toggle it off if you want to completely turn off all sounds and vibrations on your phone, including notifications and alarms. “silence” Turn on the mode by pressing and holding the Volume Down button until “silence” mode is enabled
Note: The exact steps may vary depending on the make and model of your phone and the version of the Android operating system it’s running.

8. Be careful what you post
Once you post something on social media, it’s out there forever. You always want to Avoid posting anything embarrassing, inappropriate or offensive on your social accounts because it will come back to haunt you later. Always think before you post. And if you’re someone who spends a lot of time on social media and wants to cut down on screen time, follow these steps.
For iPhone:
- open settings
- Click Screen time
- choose Application limitations
- Click Add limits
- choose A range of applications On which you want to put a limit
For Android:
- open up settings application
- faucet Digital Wellbeing and Parental Control
- faucet chart
- Next to the app you want to limit, tap Set a timer
- choose How much time can you spend? On that application
- faucet Set
